More De Kooning,- later work. And more from NY will follow..

“De Kooning: A retrospective” at MoMa is enormous! and very impressive. I was particularly taken by his later work - and his lithographs of course.

We were also treated with Rudy Burckhardt’s Charles Simonds: Dwellings, a film which captures the sculptor and architect and his miniature works among the dilapidated structures in the Lower East Side. Also shot in early 70s New York.  I love the part in the film where CS is working on one of his miniature architectures while kids are burning a car down in the background. That is true...

I went to the screening of Gordon Matta-Clark’s Food, about the legendary SoHo restaurant and food cooperative (shot by Robert Frank). - at Microscope Gallery.  The film is great! Also, I’m in love with New York in the 70ies! More here and here.
